Celebrating the Launch of Safe Haven Pocketbook by SK Reid
I don't know about you, but life never ever seems to be any less crazy busy! It's like we're all caught in a whirlwind, trying to juggle countless responsibilities and expectations. This year has been particularly challenging and, if I'm brutally honest, even more upside down than the last. We've been navigating the uncharted waters of uncertain times, and it's left many of us feeling like we're caught in a storm.
But one wonderful thing to come out of these crazy times is my new book, Safe Haven Pocketbook. Like my other books, this book-baby has come from personal experience, my own journey through difficult times and learning how to navigate my way through to a place of calm no matter how turbulent life is.
Living in Uncertain Times and Dealing with Stress
This year, it's not just about COVID—though it has certainly played a major role in our lives. Melbourne went back into its 6th lockdown in the middle of the year, and emerging from it has brought a mix of relief and very strange uncertainty–uncertain if we are really safe, uncertain as to what dangers, if any, are lurking in the shadows. Never really knowing what to expect next. It's been a rollercoaster ride, leaving a global wake of destruction in its path.
Stress has been an unwelcome companion for the vast majority of people, and living with anxiety during these uncertain times has become a shared experience. But amidst all the chaos and uncertainty, I found a glimmer of hope and a way to cope.
Introducing Safe Haven: A Pocketbook of Peace and Well-being
This uncertainty, the fear of never knowing what trouble lies in wait, and that sense of longing for a place of mental safety inspired me to write "Safe Haven: A Pocketbook of Peace and Well-being for Uncertain Times."
My little pocketbook has been 18 months in the making, and it's a hommage to the power of resilience in the face of adversity. When my own headspace was in a really bad place, I knew I had to find a way to create a 'safe space' mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Like many of us, I've had my share of challenges this year, including concerns for my personal safety and the safety of my loved ones. It's a journey I could write a whole other book about, and have discovered an unexpected cause I now feel very strongly about. But I'll save that for another time. But for now, I want to focus on Safe Haven.
